Hello! My name is Dr. Harriet Baayeh. I’m a Naturopathic Physician and Licensed Acupuncturist with a deep passion for helping others achieve wellness in all aspects of their lives.
When I chose to shift from a conventional medical path to a more integrative approach, many people questioned my decision. But through my clinical experience, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful and transformative healing can be—especially when combining the strengths of both conventional and natural medicine. With the right balance, patients not only heal, but truly thrive.
I was born and raised in Ghana, West Africa, and later moved to the United States to pursue my undergraduate studies. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Science with a concentration in Clinical Psychology from Bryn Athyn College, graduating Cum Laude. I then completed my medical training at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, where I was honored with the Outstanding Student Award in 2020. Most recently, in 2024, I earned a Master's degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Maryland University of Integrative Health where I was grateful to receive the Student Excellence in Integrative Health Award.
I’ve been fortunate to receive comprehensive education and training in a variety of natural healing approaches, including nutrition, botanical medicine, acupuncture, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, and mind-body techniques. I integrate these modalities into my practice to support each individual’s unique path to wellness.
My approach is centered on treating the whole person, rather than just addressing symptoms. My goal is to empower patients with the knowledge and tools they need to live their healthiest lives. I see my work as both a calling and a way to contribute by living as an example and sharing the principles of natural, healthful living.
In my full-time practice, I work with individuals of all ages and backgrounds—adults and children, men and women. I offer both in-person consultations and virtual appointments for patients around the world.
It would be an honor to support you on your journey to better health.
The foundation of Naturopathic Medicine is based on the philosophy that the body has an innate, natural ability to heal itself and we can use the healing properties in nature to correct imbalances and support this healing process. Guided by the 6 principles explained below, a naturopathic physician strives to support their patients towards optimal wellness by focusing on disease prevention and active participation.
As a requirement for their medical school training, Naturopathic Medical Doctors (NMDs) must have attained the appropriate bachelor’s degree and taken all the prerequisites medical school courses, similar to conventional medical schools.
NDs are trained as primary care physicians with specializations available post-graduation. We order labs, perform physical exams, diagnose and treat disease. They must continue their medical education post-graduation to remain licensed. Naturopathic doctors are required to complete 40 hours of continuing medical education a year, with 10 hours of those being in pharmacology (safe drug prescribing).
The following six principles guide the therapeutic methods and modalities of Naturopathic medicine:
#1: FIRST DO NO HARM
#2: THE HEALING POWER OF NATURE
#3: DISCIVER AND TREAT THE ROOT CAUSE
#4: TREAT THE WHOLE PERSON
#5: THE PHYSICIAN IS A TEACHER
#6: PREVENTION IS THE BEST CURE

Naturopathic medicine is right for everyone!
The first visit is an hour and half (90 minutes) and during this time, we discuss your entire medical history and gather relevant information. We evaluate whatever labs brought in and order more testing if needed. In addition, we do a detailed head to toe physical exam. Your visit will be with Dr Baayeh, not with a nurse, or physician assistant. You will be able to ask whatever questions you have. The second visit is an hour and it is during this visit that we put together a personalized treatment plan based on labs and other findings. Dr Baayeh typically does not prescribe anything or make recommendations during the first visit unless absolutely needed.
Naturopathic modalities benefits virtually every illness, symptoms and diagnosis. Because of our approach of treating the person, not just the illness, and all the many treatment therapies available to us, patients with a wide variety of symptoms notice improvements from naturopathic care.
YES! Dr Baayeh uses both standardized and alternative testing to get to the root cause of health issues. Because she is a licensed medical practitioner, she is able to order labs and does so with almost every patient.

At this time, Dr Baayeh is unable to accept insurance for patient visits. Most insurance companies will cover blood work ordered by Dr Baayeh. I do not want insurance standards, policies and reimbursement fees to dictate my recommendations and guidance for clients. I provide a personalized approach for your unique health situation, not swayed by the insurance decisions that often stand in the way of a conventional medicine approach. In some states, insurance companies will cover the cost of naturopathic care and we provide super-bills/receipts for insurance reimbursement. The easiest way to determine what aspects of your visit will be covered by your plan is to contact your insurance provider. Otherwise, all major credit cards are accepted.
Payment is due at the time services are rendered. We accept cash, debit, and credit cards including Health Savings Accounts (HSA). A deposit is required for all new patient appointments
Everyone is different and so the healing journey looks differently for each individual. But in general, we should know if the treatment plan in working in the first 2-3 weeks after protocol is given. For some people it takes a little as a few days to 1 week and for others as much as 4 weeks to feel a difference.
